Happiness comes in a multitude of flavors, and I feel that the week has been me being a little hog (a hedgehog!) at an ice cream buffet (which I really wish existed in Japan).
1 – (Chocolate mint with sprinkles!) I’m very happy that after doing some serious stretches, my back is allowing me to sit in the chair and write again
2 – (Caramel and fudge ribbon with vanilla ice cream) I have two people that live with me supporting me (one financially because my part-time job pays peanuts, and the other with writer memes)
3 – (Magical mint-night) My warm blanket nest, and the fact that I woke up surrounded by a fairy ring made of pillows (that’s not how I went to sleep)
4 – (Orange sherbet) My office is starting to get cleaned up, and I know where to put a second monitor
5 – (Rocky road) My spouse being off in another city for work (this is a double-edged sword since I don’t sleep well when they aren’t here, but I also don’t feel as guilty spending all my free time writing or cleaning either) 🙂
Enough about tasty treats thought, time for a little bit of…
Reading books has been my motivation this week. It’s just a feeling, but some books give me impostor syndrome, but other books light a fire under my butt, and I feel that yes, I can do this! Several books this week have been on both sides, but overall I’m feeling better about my manuscript, about my superhero romance, and even about the short stories I write too. It’s nice to get back into a reading habit – I’ve swung from all reading to all writing to a nice middle ground I’d like to keep.
Another source of motivation is seeing what I’ve done in 2019 and thinking about what I want to do in 2020. I finished my first manuscript draft in 2019, rewriting several parts of it along the way, and that felt amazing! Sometimes I can’t even believe that I’ve done that! I’m going to be more ambitious in the future – I certainly want to start writing my romantic superheroes, and by the end of 2020 I’d like to be able to start querying my apocalypse ghosts (but that depends on so much I’m putting that down as a reach dream).
Dreams are always good to have, but I think just as important are the steps planned out in how to make those dreams a reality.
Out of my five goals from last week, I finished two, did 1/2 of a third, and completely whiffed on two others. Note to self, put goals somewhere where I can see them (that might be helpful) 🙂
This week the goals are:
- finish those dang dishes 😛
- get a start on my bullet journal
- edit up to chapter 16 of my MS
- have my office completely organized and tidied, with my 2nd monitor set up
- have the first superhero romance book plotted out
Best of everything with your week!
